
BYJU’S is an online teaching platform launched in 2015 by think and learn pvt Ltd which was started by byju raveendran and his wife divya gokulnath in 2011 , Byju’s which is valued at $22B gained a lot of popularity in recent years because of the boom in edtech industry during COVID , because of some of the big acquisitions it made , the amount of funds it raised and the sponsorships it made in sports, Byju’s is the official jersy sponsor of Indian national cricket team and one of the sponsors of FIFA 2022 , the company raised around $6B and its acquisitions include Akash for $1B , US based EPIC for $500M , Singapore based Great learning for $600M and most importantly the way they teach is very exciting and new for especially Indian students, Byju’s quality content made its users to regain the joy of learning that students kind of forgetting because of the problems we have in our education system and mindset of their parents and people around them
These are interesting times for companies in edtech space, educational technology global market size is increasing at a CAGR of 16% , it is around $200B now and is expected to reach $450B by 2028. In an era where traditional educational institutions are offering online courses and online degrees it will be interesting to see where edtech companies reach in future

The CEO of the company Byju raveendran said although there is a significant increase in revenue from FY20 to FY21 because of COVID it was deferred to subsequent years , the company expects to make ₹17000cr of revenue in FY23 , BYJU’S revenue model is a subscription model it earns money mainly from subscription fees , it offers some of its content for free but to access all of that Content one needs to buy the subscription
